INFINITE FORGIVENESS MEETS INFINITE EFFORT: BO MAQ DROPS SOULFUL VALENTINE’S ANTHEM “70X7 ATTEMPTS”

JOHANNESBURG, February 13, 2026 – Just days after premiering his directorial vision on SABC 2’s Pimville, multi-hyphenate creative Bo Maq returns to the recording booth with a powerful new single. Out Now! Just in time for Valentine’s weekend, “70×7 Attempts“ is a raw, soulful exploration of love, loss, and the refusal to give up.
Drawing its title from the famous Biblical instruction to forgive “seventy times seven” times, Bo Maq flips the script. In this track, the number doesn’t represent infinite forgiveness, but infinite effort.

The song narrates the story of a man watching his partner pull away. Instead of anger or resignation, he offers a humble, sincere promise: “Tell me what’s wrong, and I will fix it.” It is a track about the fear of distance and the relentless commitment to win back the one you love, attempting until the bridge is rebuilt.

“We often talk about love being patient, but we rarely talk about love being work,” says Bo Maq. “With ’70×7 Attempts,’ I wanted to capture that desperate, honest moment where you realise you are willing to change, to try, and to fight for the relationship as many times as it takes. It’s a promise of endurance.”

A Creative Multiverse The release of “70×7 Attempts” cements Bo Maq’s status as one of South Africa’s most versatile “Creative Hybrids.”
- On Screen: He is currently the lead director for SABC 2’s new prime-time drama, Pimville (Mon-Fri, 21:00).
- In Tech: He is pioneering the “Modern African Aesthetic” through his media house, Ekklesia Works, having just completed South Africa’s first fully AI-integrated music video (slated for release soon).
- In Film: He is in production for his independent film, Minnie.
With “70×7 Attempts,” Bo Maq reminds the industry that before he was a director, he was—and remains—a musician with a story to tell.
“70×7 Attempts” will be available on all major streaming platforms this Friday, February 13th.
