In September, as we celebrate our diverse cultural heritage. 1Magic will shine a spotlight on the captivating realm of Amapiano in the much-anticipated docu-series, Impilo Ye Piano. Joining us on this musical journey are the renowned talents Nobantu Vilakazi, Josiah De Disciple, Njelic, Sandy MRD, and Mawhoo as they effortlessly merge their musical rhythms with the rich tapestry of our nation’s roots.

Impilo Ye Piano, the latest offering from 1Magic, goes beyond mere entertainment. It serves as a tribute to these five artists who have elevated the Amapiano genre, which has taken the world by storm while reflecting the tales, trials, and triumphs of South Africa. The docu-series delves deep into their narratives, where today’s unsung heroes become tomorrow’s legends, and where the heartbeat of heritage undergoes a remarkable transformation.

Nobantu Vilakazi, hailing from Meadowlands, Soweto, embodies the essence of Amapiano with her raw energy. Rising to stardom with “Khurukhutsu,” she spreads her melodious voice across the continent. But her true passion lies in her son, Bandile, and her aspirations for global recognition. With the support of her allies Prince and Crispy, the stage is set for her conquest.

Josiah De Disciple, previously one-half of Jazzidisciples, brought us Amapiano’s first music video, “Long Lasting.” Now, as a solo artist, his soulful sounds on “Sounds of Gomora” are breaking new records. Beyond the turntables, he is a dedicated father and partner, guiding and nurturing Amapiano’s talents from Alexandra.

Njelic, known as Amapiano’s “Grootman,” boasts an iconic voice and beats. His dedication lies in nurturing young talents in Soweto, while his ambition reaches for global recognition. Alongside him are his sister Palesa, confidant Bravo, and his young daughter.

Sandy MRD, Amapiano’s first female vocalist, gained fame with Team Mosha but now faces the challenge of rebuilding her career and reputation. From heartbreaks with Team Mosha to fresh beginnings in Riverlea, her comeback story is nothing short of remarkable.

Mawhoo, the KZN sensation, seamlessly transitioned from Gqom to Amapiano. With collaborations with some of the biggest names. Her true journey lies in merging Amapiano aesthetics with her rich Zulu heritage.
