It comes as no surprise that the internet has played a massive role in the rise of several South African musicians. A not-so-new DJ who hit South Africa’s entertainment radar over the past few months is Uncle Waffles.

The young sensation is part of several Amapiano artists who have been making it big in recent months.

Female DJs, to be specific, have been gaining much attention lately, and Uncle Waffles is part of the pack. Like many others, most people are eager to know more about her and her moves since she rose to fame.

  1. Uncle Waffles’ real name is Lungelihle Zwane.
  2. The DJ is originally from Swaziland and currently based in South Africa.
  3. Waffles dropped out of university to focus on her music career.
  4. Uncle Waffles is amongst the youngest (22 years old)  female Amapiano DJs in South Africa.
  5. Uncle Waffles had a tough upbringing, she did not know her parents and was raised by her grandmother. She eventually reconciled with her mother, their relationship was strained for the majority of her teenage years.

  10. The 22-year-old DJ is an advocate for mental health and has shared that she previously struggled with anxiety and mental health disorder. Hence she has a blog called Perspective on which she often posts motivational messages.
