Mapaseka Koetle Sparks a National Conversation on Parenting with ‘Mommy Diaries Live’

Johannesburg, South Africa — October 2025. As Mzansi prepares to celebrate National Children’s Day on 1 November, award-winning actress and entrepreneur Mapaseka Koetle is stepping up to lead a meaningful conversation about parenting in modern South Africa. In collaboration with All Inn Management, she’s hosting Mommy Diaries Live — an empowering event set to take place in Midrand.

Mommy Diaries

The gathering aligns with this year’s theme of advancing the rights of children, focusing on how parents and caregivers can create nurturing spaces that allow the next generation to grow, thrive, and feel seen. More than just a talk, Mommy Diaries Live is being positioned as a movement — one that aims to inspire, connect, and spark change.

The line-up features powerful voices, including Mampho Brescia, Thuli Thabethe, Lala Tuku, Dr Boitumelo Phetla, and DJ Fae Fae, bringing together heartfelt discussions, practical tools, and a sense of community for today’s parents.

Why It Matters

Parenting in South Africa comes with its own set of pressures and realities. Stats SA reports that 45.5% of children live only with their mothers. In comparison, just 31.4% are raised by both parents — showing how many women continue to carry household responsibilities largely on their own.

“Motherhood is beautiful, but it’s also messy, complicated, and full of unspoken truths,” says Mapaseka. “These numbers remind us that many modern mothers walk this journey alone.”

She adds that in 2023, 6.7 million grandparents lived with 9.7 million children under 18 — proof that caregiving in South Africa often stretches across generations.

“With Mommy Diaries Live, I wanted to create a safe space for parents and caregivers to connect, share authentic stories, and realise we’re not alone,” Mapaseka explains. “But it’s more than storytelling — it’s about reshaping how we nurture and protect our children together.”

Plugstar’s Note

Parenting is also part of the culture. Just like Amapiano, it’s about rhythm, balance, and creating something that lasts. Mapaseka’s Mommy Diaries Live is here to remind us that raising the next generation isn’t a solo act — it’s a collaboration.
